About
Shot in the Dark Comics Shot
in the Dark Comics started out as “Two Guys Comics” with two guys, a huge
passion for comics and a dream. Frank Dunbar had been drawing and creating
comic book ideas since he was sixteen. Gene Tipton had always had a deep love
for comics and had been writing short stories and other forms of literary art
for as long as he could remember. It
seemed only natural when these two first met in the summer of 2001, that something exciting would happen. Two
Guys Comics was the result of that meeting and over the next few years Frank
and Gene had tons of fun creating comic book ideas and juts hanging out doing
the things that normal guys their age do..well, ok,
that last part, maybe not so much. The
kind of guys who never really grew out of having any kind of fun, Frank and
Gene would take a break from the grind of their regular jobs and comic
creating to do all sorts of crazy things, like laser tag, squirt gun fights,
and extremely challenging scavenger hunts along with Frank’s awesome
daughter, Kate. Although
Frank and Gene still maintained regular and at times grueling day jobs, they
continued to pursue comics as a dream. After
the Baltimore Comic Convention of 2007 Frank and Gene Began to take their
business a bit more seriously and changed the name from Two Guys Comics to
Shot in the Dark Comics because of the presumed ‘Shot’ they were taking by
getting involved, full force in the comic publishing business. We knew there were tons of talented
people out there that would not likely have a fair opportunity through the
larger companies and we knew that we could provide equal or superior quality
art and story than any other competitor because we search out the talent
regardless of whether they are known or published, and we are eager and have
never become complacent. Frank has since left the business for
personal reasons and due to family illness but he still keeps Shot in the
Dark in spirit. We now have incredibly talented
individuals working with us all over the country and the world and we have a
few contracts even to turn Horror Novels into comic/graphic novel
adaptations. We have contracted with Nicholas Grabowsky
who wrote Halloween IV, and 2007 sci-fi book of the year "The Everborne". We have a contract with him to adapt
each of the short stories in his novel Red Wet Dirt, into comic format. We
have also contracted with Vince Churchill, author of
the Buthcer’s Bride and other Sci-fi and horror
tales, to adapt his sci’fi thriller novel, The
Blackest Heart into a graphic novel. We have developed a unique universe
and offer comics for all ages and genres from fun kids
books, to mainstream superheroes to Crime Noir graphic Novels. Take a look
and I’m sure you’ll find lots of comics you can’t live without. Here at Shot in the Dark Comics, not
only do we “Soar Without Limits” But we guarantee to produce Comics That Don’t Suck!
